Polystyrene bead and electrospun polystyrene nanofibers are employed as subjects of study in this protein biomarker sensor. The study is conducted to compare the sensitivity and efficiency of the polystyrene nanofibers and microspheres as protein sensors with respect to the surface area of the sensing material. The validated test chip is then incorporated into a biocompatible encapsulation to constitute a hand held and portable ’lab on a chip’ device.
