The search for efficient mixing methods in the low Reynolds numbers flows typical of lab-on-a-chip technology has led us to propose an annular magnetohydrodynamic micromixer, currently under construction at the NMRC. In this talk we present asymptotic analysis and numerical simulations to predict the scaling of mixing time with Peclet number, and so guide the optimal design of such mixers.
