A computational model was created utilizing the CFD-ACE+ software to model blood flow from a lancet puncture of the skin. A two-dimensional axisymmetric model was developed and the skin tissue was modeled as a porous media. The permeability of the porous media was adjusted to match the blood volume of an experimental end-cap for use with a lancet device. A parametric analysis of the endcap radius shows that volume of blood collected increases as the opening increases, until a saturation point is reached for end-cap radii greater than 7 mm. A similar trend was found when compared with experimental data taken with the same constraints.
