Keywords: lysozyme, single-walled carbon nanotubes
Lysozyme (LSZ) facilitates the dispersion of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) while maintaining its’ antibacterial activity through macroscopic processing. The structural and enzymatic nature of LSZ makes possible the dispersion of SWNT for processing into macroscopic assemblies. Understanding the phase behavior and dynamics of the SWNT-LSZ dispersion allows for better understanding of macroscale processing. Fiber spinning of concentrated SWNT-LSZ, both mixture and supernatant, show fiber structure with homogeneity and small domain alignment. In addition, the fibers remain antibacterial due to the enzymatic nature of LSZ.
