vertically aligned carbon nanotube based electrical biosensor was demonstrated as a more rapid, sensitive and specific device for metastatic diagnosis of colon cancer cells based on the mechanical entrapment of metastatic cancer cells on vertically aligned CNT arrays and subsequently electrical signal extraction from entrapped cell membrane by Conductive CNT tips, changing the impedance of the biosensor without the need for any additional adhesive layer, biomarkers, or a time consuming cell attachment process. HT29 and SW48 colon cancer cells (primary and progressive grades of colon cancer respectively) were flown over the surface of the sensor with the same primary concentration to be investigated on their fraction of entrapment on elastic nanotube beams. The SW48 cells which have highly deformable cytoskeletal structures are entrapped on the CNT beams with observably higher fraction and the impedance increment occurred sharper for such cells in comparison with HT29 ones.
