LFIAs are used in the investigation of a variety of bio-molecular binding interactions and they remain the primary means for point of care and fast detection of analytes including pathogens and toxins. In a novel approach, we have investigated a new coupling strategy for preparing gold antibody conjugates and demonstrate the reactivity of antibodies (IgGs) directionally attached to AuNP surfaces. This helps to resolve limitations arising from random IgG orientation and conjugate instability during the fabrication and usage of traditional LFIAs. The prepared conjugates are promising candidates for the development of advanced LFIAs.
