We report here a novel approach to fabricate graphene shell encapsulated Au nanoparticles in a chemical vapor deposition process. In addition, processing parameters were studied to result in best quality non-turbostratic graphene shells. This system was further studied for its plasmonic behavior and nanomechanical aspects using mathematical modeling techniques as well as experimental evaluation.
