Implementing EMS system across an enterprise can be a daunting management and operational challenge, especially as economic pressures reduce the human capital available to implement and oversee projects. This presentation will outline key “lessons learned” from nationwide deployments and share best practices for on-going management. In addition, the topic of demand response will be covered. Companies receive rebates from utilities by enrolling in demand response programs whereby utilities periodically request a load reduction from participants to prevent grid overloads. The key is to automate and aggregate loads through electronic integration. Thus, this is a simple, cost-saving strategy which reduces the need for additional power generation and transmission, protecting profits and the electricity grid at the same time.
