Keywords: injectable, sustained delivery
CSIRO has developed thermoresponsive polymers for encapsulation and sustianed release of bioactives. They are stable aqueous solutions over 24 months, easily pass through a 25 gauge needle at room temperature and immediately gel into a sustained release depot on in vivo injection. They are designed to be biodegradable and well tolerated in vivo based. Theyare able to deliver therapeutic agents, enzymes/proteins and small molecule drugs over an extended period of time. Additionally, the materials and their components are compendia materials and amenable to existing GMP manufacture.
