Novel Alcohol-based Diesel Fuels The development of efficient engines is both economically and environmentally attractive. Diesel engines because of their higher compression ratios, burn fuel at higher temperatures and efficiencies. Thus the development of diesel fuels that are renewable and less polluting would represent a significant advance towards sustainable transportation. JGS Research has developed an alternative fuel based on alcohols derived from biomass. Alcohols, in combination with our product Bionit, yield a diesel fuel which is cleaner burning than petroleum-based diesel fuel. The novel synthetic strategies of Bionit as well as preliminary engine tests will be presented.
