Liquid Flame Spray is one of the flame aerosol methods for the nanoparticle synthesis. Here, it is used in depositing the particles directly on a moving roll-to-roll substrate. The deposition process is performed in a pilot-scale. The deposits replace the conventional coatings and surface treatments with a nanoparticle layer. The amount of material can be decreased a lot compared to the conventional coatings and the treatments have a stable effect, which conventional surface treatment methods cannot provide. The surface functionality shown here is tunable water contact angle, which can be utilised in e.g. printing applications in the industry. Also several other industrially interesting properties are achieved with the nanoparticle coatings.
