Carbon nanotube polymer composites are very promising for applications due to their exceptional mechanical and electronic properties to improve the elastic properties of polymers or to make polymers conductive. The large surface of carbon nanotubes make them interact strongly with their environment. Carbon nanotubes tend to agglomerate into bundles, difficult to entangle and to make them interact with the polymer matrix. Fictionalization of carbon nanotubes and the use of double wall carbon nanotubes is one of the possibilities to entangle bundles, to improve the interaction with the matrix and maintain the intrinsic properties of CNTs. We use Raman imaging to assess the degree of interaction of carbon nanotubes with the polymer matrix. The G and D band depends sensitive to the local environment. This is compared with high pressure experiments using different pressure transmitting media. We use Raman spectroscopy as diagnostic tool for carbon nanotube polymer composites by correlating the G and D band spectral position and intensity.
