The present study demonstrates liquid-phase exfoliation of graphene from pristine graphite in presence of surfactant and synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) via graphene oxide method. Pretreated cotton fabrics are primed with binder molecules before immobilization of graphene or reduced graphene oxide (rGO). Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are synthesized ex-situ using citrate method and further surface modified with cetytrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and n-nonylamine (NA) to form positively charged AuNP-CTAB-NA colloids. These AuNPs are further immobilized on graphene using second layer of binder molecules. Similarly, ZnO@rGO composite is immobilized on cotton fabric for photocatalytic applications. The morphology of these deposited nanostructures were verified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and tested for catalytic oxidation of organosilane to organosilanols and photocatalytic degradation of dye molecules. Both composites immobilized on cotton fabric exhibited good catalytic activity with excellent recyclability.
