We have discovered a novel method of synthesizing carbon nanostructures such as single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and carbon onions. The advantages of our method include, catalyst-free synthesis of CNTs at room temperature and ambient pressure with low-intensity lasers.
