As the crystallization kinetics is enhanced by the introduction of the microwave hydrothermal method, the arm of this work was to produce and characterize boehmite by microwave-assisted hydrothermal. Boehmite nanostructure were synthesized by a hydrothermal microwave route and the experimental details were the following: 0,025 mol Al(NO3)3.9H2O, 0,0125 mol of Zn(NO3)2.6H2O, were added to 160mL of destiled H2O. The resulted solution was transferred into a sealed Teflon autoclave and placed in a adapted microwave. Finally, the reaction system was heat treated at 180oC for 3 h. The reflection peaks of the DRX are readily indexed as orthorhombic boehmite. The mean crystallite size, calculated from the half-width of difraction peaks using Schererr´s formula, was 8,09 nm. The boehmite sample give nitrogen adsorpition isotherms as type IV with closed hysteresis loops described as type H3, which suggestes thepresence of mesopores in the boehmite. These results of the prepared samples, which contributes to a reltively high BET surface area of 226,3m2.g-1. In 1. The SEM of boehmite (MH) was observed the formation of agglomerates with irregular morphology, formed of small nanosized particles. This method was effective in the synthesis of high surface area of powder catalyst of technological interest: boehmite.
