Spirofluoreneacridinone-Based Shape-Controlled Nanorods for Aqueous Phase Processing Light-Emitting Devices

The unique cruciform-shaped spirocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons might provide a facile strategy to design the multi-dimensional nanostructure of organic semiconductors “bottom up”, which could be exploited as the building block for micro/nano optoelectronic devices. Over the past decades, considerable efforts have been made to construct the inorganic counterpart. However, bottom-up synthesis of nanostructures in multi-dimensions from π-conjugated molecular is proposed as a thorny challenge.The topological superiority of non-planar 3D configuration offers a much more free degree in design various nanostructures, where SAHs are promising versatile assembling building blocks.We here demonstrated the kinetic morphology evolution of SFDBAO nanowire from elongated octahedron through the manipulation of growth condition. The as prepared ~10 μm length SFDBAO 1D nanowire exhibits a large aspect ratio with an elongated octahedron at the edge. A well n-type semiconducting property was investigated with a broad EL emission at ~ 600 nm, through the heterojunction LED.
