The wetting properties of surfaces are fundamental properties greatly influencing their interaction with the environment. Self-cleaning, bacteria-resistant, and anti-fogging surfaces are feasible by depositing either super-hydrophobic or super-hydrophilic coatings and will have great impact on several applications such as sport equipments, lenses for optical device, reading glasses, sanitary, automobile windscreen, windows, and mirrors to name a few. In particular, anti–fogging coatings are feasible by avoiding formation of small water droplets on the substrate surface and require a highly performing super-hydrophilic coating. Furthermore, they should be transparent, mechanically stable and low cost to promote commercialization. Here, a rapid method for synthesis and deposition of transparent anti-fogging coatings is presented.
