Electrospinning provides a simple and unique technique for preparation of fibers with the diameters ranging from the nano- to microscale. We prepared the electrospun fiber which contains nickel oxide (NiO) as the electrochemical active material and acetylene black (AB) as the conducting agent. The fiber was prepared by the following procedure. The dispersed solution (DMF and acetone mixture) containing poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene), P(VdF-co-HFP), NiO and AB was used for electrospinning process. The average diameter of the resulted fiber was 260 – 270 nm. Many beads (5 um- 10 um in diameter) were observed on the fiber. The EPMA analysis for the beads suggested that the beads contain many NiO particles. The beads structure is significant for achievement of high capacity. Average specific capacity of the electrospun fiber electrode was 0.63 F/g (per gram of the electrospun fiber on the electrode) under the charge-discharge current of 15 mA/g. Capacity degradation after 1000 cycle charge-discharge test was about 9 %.
