The increasing interest during the last few decades in decreasing the environmental effects of the release of organic compounds and aqueous waste has motivated the development of polymeric materials in supercritical fluids(SCF). However, the advantages of using SCF are not only environmental but also chemical and economical. One of the most practical advantages is a solvent-free polymer product by simply venting the solvent. It eliminates the need for energy intensive drying and devolatilization processes. In this paper, chlorodifluoromethane (HCFC-22) was used as a supercritical fluid which has critical point (Tc=96.2℃, Pc=49.7bar). The PEO/clay, PMMA/clay nanocomposites were manufactured by using the supercritical fluid process. And also polybuthylene terephthalate was polymerized using cyclic oligomers in the condition of melt process and supercritical process. And PBT/clay nanocomposite were manufactured from melt process and supercritical process. HCFC-22 shows a good medium for manufacturing the nanocomposites. And polymer nanocomposites made in supercritical fluid process were successfully intercalated or exfoliated.
