The emission control catalyst market is about $11 billion and growing while global concerns over environmental pollution have resulted in increasingly stringent regulations. This business opportunity, however, is complicated by the requirement for higher performance at lower costs with a heavy dependency on precious metals that continues to experience escalating prices. Leveraging its “perovskite advantage”, Nanox innovative nanoscale perovskite-based catalyst formulations are engineered to resolve these issues. Using its robust, patented Activated Reactive Synthesis (ARS) Technology, the nanostructured catalysts are engineered with unique structural features and high surface areas that enable higher catalytic efficiency at lower temperatures without sacrificing durability performance. Of particular importance is the fact that these nanomaterial products are readily incorporated into manufacturing processes used in the catalyst industry today. Each powder particle possess a hierarchical structure where larger micron sized particles hold the < 40 nanometer size grains. These nanocrystalline catalysts have been evaluated using standard industrial testing conditions, with the Cummins gas model stream. The data clearly confirms both the activity of the perovskites at temperatures as low as 125 oC and the capability for reduction of PGM by as much as 70%.
