2D arrays of single-walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWNTs) have been grown on Silicon substrates of both Si(100) surface and Si(111) surface by using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). The two-fold growth symmetry on Si(100) and three-fold growth symmetry on Si(111) show preferred growing direction of carbon nanotubes along the lattice orientation of the underneath substrate.
