The Non-lethal Environmental Evaluation and Remediation Consortium, comprised of M2 Technologies, Kansas State University, and CABEM Technologies, performs environmental research, training, assessment, and product development for the Department of Defense. The NEER Consortium addresses complex environmental issues that affect the health and safety of our air, water, and land. One of NEER’s tasks is to assist DoD in conducting life cycle environmental assessments during the acquisition phase of technology development. As part of the LCEA work, Kansas State University staff coordinate with DoD’s Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Human Effects Review Board to provide technical input on potential environmental concerns and participate in field testing, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. NEER developed the Environmental Knowledge and Assessment Tool for the United States Marine Corps. EKAT is used by consortium members as part of the LCEA work conducted on behalf of the DoD. The presentation highlights methods by which NEER conducts LCEAs for the DoD by presenting examples from several current and ongoing projects.
