Fabrication and characterization of thin-film transistors based on printable functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes

In this study, we reported a simple functionalization approach to preparing high-quality SWNT ink. We demonstrated that metallic species and small diameter semiconducting species in CoMoCat 76 could be effectively eliminated after reaction with 2, 2-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN). As-prepared SWNTs were then dispersed in 1% SDS solution, and different concentration of SWNT inks were directly used to fabricate TFTs using Aerosol Jet printing system without any purification. Printed TFTs using high concentration of SWNT inks exhibit the effective mobility of ~0.5 cm2/Vs and on/off ratio of ~104. Further development is underway to fabricate all printed high performance SWNT TFTs and to build simple logic circuits on flexible substrate.
