Mapping Multiplexing Technique was reported for the first time in [(patent No: PI201270063)] as an alternative modulation and multiplexing technique for high-speed optical fiber communication systems. In this letter two, three, and four-channel Mapping Multiplexing Technique (MMT) is demonstrated to increase the data capacity of multilevel intensity modulated transmission formats to 2, 3 and 4 bits per symbol. It is verified based upon the findings of extensive theoretical and empirical research that, MMT is able to offer reduced energy consumption per symbol and per bit, and can be employed as an alternative to M-PAM systems aided with better receiver sensitivity.
