Polymer electrolytes are widely used in lithium batteries, since these have better advantages compared to other electrolytes such as low cost, light weight, no leakage, high energy density, improved safety and flexible design. Polymer electrolytes have been developed in three forms namely dry solid polymer electrolyte, plasticized or gel polymer electrolytes and nanocomposite solid polymer electrolytes. In present study, the PVdF-HFP, LiClO4 ionic salt and nanosized ZnO were used to prepare the nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte by solution casting method and nanosized ZnO was prepared by Gel combustion process. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles dispersed PVdF-HFP based nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte was characterized by using XRD, FTIR, SEM, AC conductivity by impedance spectroscopy, DC conductivity by Wagner polarization method, Surface area can be calculated by BET surface area analyzer (Quantachrome Nova 3200e) and porosity calculated by n-butanol uptake method. The XRD patterns of pure PVdF-HFP, (PVdF-HFP+ 17.5wt% LiClO4) solid polymer electrolyte and (PVdF-HFP+ 17.5wt% LiClO4+Xwt% ZnO) of nanocomposite solid polymer electrolyte conforms the reduction of crystallinity and also conformed with the conductivity, which is increased with LiClO4 as well as the ZnO filler introduced into the PVdF-HFP matrix. The SEM images gives the morphological structure of SPE, NCSPE.
