Efficient 3-D Numerical Code “FastSlipStokes” for Drag Force Calculation Due to Slip Flow

Drag force calculation due to slip flows is important in predicting the performance of the microstructures with minimum feature size around 1 mm. In this paper, an efficient numerical approach to compute the drag force due to slip flows is presented. A 3-D numerical code was developed. The validation of this code was obtained by comparison of the numerical results in simple prototype flow, i.e. a sphere moving uniformly in an unbounded slip flow, with the asymptotic solution. Two different slip models were used in this study. A comparison of these two models is also given in this paper.
