Reactive ball milling (RBM) technique was employed to synthesize ultrafine powders of -MgH2 phase coexisted with small mole fractions of -MgH2 phase. The metal hydride powders were prepared at room temperature under 50 bar of a hydrogen gas nanocrystalline, using high-energy ball mill. The powders obtained after 200 h of RBM time were then ball-milled with 7wt.% of powders under hydrogen gas atmosphere for different RBM time. The nanocomposite powders obtained after selected RBM time (0, 1, 3, 6, 12.5, 25, 36 and 50 h) were characterized by XRD, FE-HRTEM/EDS, FE-SEM/EDS, DSC, DTA/TG and BET. Moreover, the effect of the RBM time on the absorption and desorption kinetics of MgH2 powders doped with 7wt.% of 7TiMn1.5 powders were investigated.
