An economic assessment of integrating a High-Temperature Generation Plant (HTGR) with a biomass to SynFuel plant was performed under three market scenarios. Results are as competitive as other carbon feedstock to liquid fuel concepts being investigated. Such a concept may be especially competitive in many countries not rich in traditional, energy dense, fossil fuels and an abundant potential in wind, hydroelectric, or other renewable energy resource for a reliable electric energy supply. An integrated energy enterprise could produce 120,000 BBLs of high-quality, low-sulfur synfuel daily, or 1.0% of the U.S. imported crude oil within a 10,000 square mile footprint.
