One of the promising applications of the H2-to-electricity converters is in the field of power smoothing and storage. The technologies currently considered for smoothing and storage have certain problems. The use of hydrogen as a storage media has also been considered, but the problems include the high cost and low efficiency. Both the greatest cost and the greatest energy loss in the entire chain of electrolysis-H2pumping-H2storage-H2conversion to electricity is usually in the latter stage (when it is represented by a conventional fuel cell). Therefore, in order to make the hydrogen-based power storage viable, it is necessary to develop a more efficient and less costly converters of H2 to electricity. Here we are describing the novel H2-to-electricity converter named BioGeneratot. In our view, it can solve these problems. The unique features of the BioGenerator include: o The first practical bio-technology for electrical power generation in megawatt scale o Ihe most efficient convertor of hydrogen to electricity o The only known power generation technology which consumes CO2 from the atmosphere o It produces high-quality protein as a co-product o It is expected to be commercialized in less than 4 years.
