In this paper, we present a novel integrated chip of safe and initiation control which is used to initiate explosive or as a ignitor in a fuze. In view of the limits on shape and safety of initiation system, traditional detonator cannot meet the current need of small initiation system. The safe and initiation chip is composed by a SCB and an electro-thermal blowout switch (ETBS). As designed, the ignition device and explosive are separated as two parts, which can adapt the needs of small initiation system in volume and shape. This chip works on two status: the ETBS works as a controlled fuse to ensure the initiation system safety normally; when the initiation system is armed, the ETBS is changed to open and the SCB can initiate explosive. The safe and initiation chip has small size and low consumption. It also can improve the reliability of special initiator, initiation system or fuze. Through simulation and preproduction, good performance in safe, ignition time and power consumption were founded. This chip could be manufactured easily in great amount and applied in some fields of high-energy control. the chip is to be integrated with control circuits in future.
