Keywords: , ,

Novel nanoporous metals from ternary precursors (i.e., AgAu(Pt) alloys with a platinum content of 1, 2 and 4 at.%) have been developed by electrochemical dealloying. These structures represent a class of functional materials with intriguing properties that can be used in applications such as catalysis and electrocatalysis thanks to their resulting structural integrity and higher catalytic activity. Different synthesis parameters have been studied to better understand the effect of Pt on the structure and examine the quantitative morphology of the nanoporous structure, its composition and the amount of exposed Pt on the ligament surfaces. The resulting electrocatalytic activity of these nanostructures is assessed towards methanol oxidation reaction (MOR).
