This company showcase will demonstrate Energy Recovery Inc.’s mission and success in leading the sustainable desalination industry to address global water shortages: Global water shortages have reached crisis levels— as many as one in eight people (885 million people) lack safe water supplies. Developing and industrialized nations alike face major decisions about how to address a looming—and inevitable—global water deficiency. One solution is seawater reverse osmosis desalination, which, due to innovations like the Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERI) PX Pressure ExchangerTM device, is an increasingly more efficient and affordable way to address water scarcity. ERI’s PX devices operate at a 98 percent efficiency rate, reducing desalination energy costs by up to 60 percent. They deliver more than six billion liters of clean water each day, save more than 750 MW of energy and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 4.6 million tons per year worldwide. Desalination plants are being built on every continent in the world and even in the U.S., with a plant near San Diego currently breaking ground. As the desalination market grows, ERI stays committed to creating U.S. jobs and continually enhancing its technology to expand into new markets, including brackish water desalination and osmotic power.
