This work reports the fabrication of nano-bottles for the containment of biomolecules on a surface of the substrate. Nano-bottles of different sizes from 10 nm to 200 nm were prepared by using nanotextured polymers formed by dewetting of ultrathin polymer films as template. An inorganic shell was coated on the polymer by sol-gel process and the polymer removed to create a well defined cavity. The bottle opening could be tailored by selective etching from 3 nm to 40 nm in size sufficient for the entry of most biomolecules of interest. FITC-BSA was successfully immobilized on macropattern of these nano-bottles on a silicon substrate.
