VEROGLAZE is a new revolutionary method, which applies long living hard and dense protective layers of quartz glass onto solid surfaces of numerous materials like Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Copper Alloys, Zinc, concrete, ceramics, stone, glass and wood. VEROGLAZE is resistant to abrasion, chemicals except of hydrofluoric acid, corrosion, ageing, radiation, heat up to 1000°C and fire. VEROGLAZE can be applied colorless transparent or in any desired color and color density. The layers are 1 to 8 micrometers thick, hard, homogenous and insulating to electricity. VEROGLAZE reliably provides a long lasting effective protection from corrosion, ageing, wear and fire. It reduces fouling, and provides easy cleaning from dirt, layers, biofilms, fingerprinting and graffiti. In case of damage VEROGLAZE can easily be repaired on site. The impact of heat during the application of VEROGLAZE is only in the range of 100°C to 150°C for a period of 10 to 60 seconds. This clearly differs from the state of the art for enameling and glazing, where the parts to be coated are heated for a longer period up to the melting temperatures of the coatings in the range of 800°C to 1.100°C. VEROGLAZE starts from the sol-gel-technology to apply silicon dioxide in organic compounds to the surface in the form of liquid lacquers. After the application by spraying, wiping, rolling or similar methods, the lacquers are dried on air for some minutes and then hardened. For hardening the surfaces are exposed for 10 to 30 seconds to the gas stream of a gas flame, which contains overheated steam and Oxygen at temperatures in the range of 800°C to 1200°C. The overheated steam and Oxygen instantly react chemically and remove the organic compounds within the structures of the layers converting them into pure silicon dioxide with a homogenous three dimensional network, which is pure quartz glass. If done correctly the treatment heats the underlying material to less than 150°C. The application of VEROGLAZE can be done on clean and dry surfaces and does not need complex production installations besides of application devices for the lacquers and special gas burners. VEROGLAZE can also be applied on site to large or fixed components or for repair. No waste or waste waters are produced and no electricity is needed. VEROGLAZE can be used for functional and decorative purposes. Fields of application are for example architecture, timber for buildings, production plants for food, chemicals, pharmaceutical products, oil industry and nuclear industry as well as civil engineering, desalination and offshore plants, automotive, shipbuilding and aircraft industry, household appliances, furniture and many more.
