Rigid polyurethane foams have a wide range of applications such as insulation, packaging, among others, due to their excellent properties. However, as most organic materials are moderately flammable and the flame propagation is very fast; increasing the risk of fire, limiting their use in case of fire [1]. For example In the United States of America, there were 374,000 fires reporting in 2012, 2,385 deaths and economic losses of more than 7.1 billion dollars. However the biggest problem occurs with toxic gases from combustion, those gases harmful is the main cause of deaths nearly 75% related to fire due to gases generated during the burning time. Death by inhalation of smoke is usually really fast. For those reason a linked work between industry and academia using investigation to develop and to innovate a polyurethane nanocomposite fireproof. The organization has detected a niche market in rigid polyurethane foam products with applications for the construction sector; that can use on the roof or on walls, imitation stone or wood. In this work, we investigated the synthesis and characterization of polyurethane modified with nanostructures by a reaction process in-situ with fire retardant property. The novel flame retardant rigid polyurethane foams were prepared based non metallic nanoparticles. The flammability and mechanical properties of rigid polyurethane were discussed on the basis on international methods [2]. It was really important to avoid the spread of fire in the material. This could be new and functional material for construction, but can useful on other industries as textile or automotive as well as medical sector. The polyurethane nanocomposite was evaluated and characterized by spectroscopic techniques (UV-VIS & FT-IR), compression strength and analytical methods such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). As well as we use an algorithm based on Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to have a better composition in the design of the rigid polyurethane nanostructured [3]. All this information helps to make the perfect stoichiometric polymer composite according with the customer requirements. Therefore the specific characteristics of nanomaterials can be used to obtain better chemical, biological and mechanical properties. The efficient and effective uses of them allow proposing advanced industrial solutions. Polymeric materials are involved in most fires occurring in urban areas and transport, because they may begin the spread of fire. Nowadays innovation on safety and sustainability make a differentiation between competitors and in other hand benefit to the final consumer. Therefore development and innovation of polymers nanocomposite could support to save lives and to understand physical and chemical properties for new materials.
